Question on
Road Condition Inspection Camera Systems:

Our Council is currently considering the use of a camera system installed on its rubbish collection trucks for the purpose of capturing road condition footage/information. Are any other Councils doing this? If so, are they using Council owned vehicles or contractor vehicles? What types of camera systems are being utilised? How is the data being captured/managed? We would really appreciate any insights you might have in relation to the use of this technology. Thanks very much.

Further to the post please see a position paper for proof of concept undertaken through the Queensland Road Alliance in relation to Automated Road Asset Condition Assessment System for Maintenance Management of Sealed Road Networks in relation to this matter. The position paper was recently presented to the IPWEAQ state conference.
