Loading heavy vehicles safely is vital in complying with CoR, preventing injury to people and damage to property, as well as providing economic benefits if the load arrives at its destination intact.

Loading heavy vehicles safely is a vital component of complying with CoR laws.
A load on a heavy vehicle must not be placed in a way that makes the vehicle unstable or unsafe, be secured so it is unlikely to fall or be dislodged, be restrained using an appropriate restraint method and be placed, secured or restrained in a way that meets the loading performance standards listed in Schedule 7 of the Heavy Vehicle (mass, dimension and loading) National Regulation.

The National Transport Commission has recently completed the review and update of the Load Restraint Guide 2018 which provides transport drivers, operators, and other participants in the transport chain of responsibility with basic safety principles which should be followed for the safe carriage of loads on road vehicles.

The 2018 Plant and Vehicle Management Workshop session on vehicle load management will look at vehicle loading challenges and how to ensure your vehicles are safe and compliant. Areas covered include:

  • Vehicle load management
  • Load restraint
  • Onboard solutions
  • VGA solutions for body integration/bodybuilder guidance
  • Future truck development
