Australia’s first cloud-based plant safety platform, Plant Assessor, is very pleased to have been helping IPWEA members manage plant and equipment compliance for more than a decade.

“We saw a need to help councils manage since we attended our first IPWEA conference in early 2008,” explains Managing Director, Matt Turner.

“Since then we have worked closely with IPWEA and councils across the country to make the onerous aspects of plant safety more manageable.

“Councils tend to utilise a broad range of plant & equipment due to their diverse activities including road construction and maintenance, management of public spaces, waste collection, asset maintenance, the list goes on.

“Because many councils are also need to meet the requirements to be self-insured for the purposes of worker’s compensation, they need to maintain robust plant risk management regimes.”

Plant Assessor has been actively involved in making substantial contributions to the safety section of the IPWEA Plant & Vehicle Management Manual, has been a regular presenter at IPWEA’s Plant & Vehicle Management Seminar National Tours, and is a regular attendee at other Fleet related IPWEA events and conferences.

The unique requirements of the local government sector has led to Plant Assessor to conduct extensive product development to meet the needs of councils across the country.

This includes the development of a specialised Plant Assessor membership/subscription type which gives councils all of the benefits of a DIY membership plus the convenience and independence of receiving a range of Plant Assessor professional services tailored to their needs.

This sees councils utilise Plant Assessor staff to conduct a range of services including undertaking risk assessments, closing out corrective actions, rolling out training staff in digital pre-start use and much more.  This 'hybrid' membership has proven very popular and cost effective with councils, especially where personnel resources are scarce.
