Synopsis - FULLY BOOKED
This
seminar is two days in duration, specifically designed for those who undertake
either the role of Engineer's Representative or Contractor’s Representative
under NZS 3910 construction contracts, and for those who aspire to these
roles. This workshop is not just a lecture, but at regular points
throughout the workshop, delegates break into groups to work on solutions to
practical problems in contract administration. Delegates leave the workshops
with a good understanding of the topics covered and comprehensive
notes are provided for future reference, and are warned about
potential errors and misunderstandings to avoid..
IPWEA
NZ offers Engineer’s Representative training and Contractor’s Representative
training in the same workshop, because getting mutual understanding of the two
roles is important and many participants may find themselves alternating
between these two roles during their career progression. This format has been
well received by more than 600 participants from local authority, consultant,
contractor and subcontracting organisations and is IPWEA NZ’s most popular
workshop.
IMPORTANT
UPDATE
The
workshop content has been updated and reformatted for 2014, taking account of
the changes introduced by the revision of NZS 3910 conditions of contract
during 2013, and publication of the new NZS 3916 for design and construct
contracts. However for those organisations still working on contracts let under
NZS 3910: 2003 version, there are references during the workshop to how
the old and new versions of the standard differ.
In
the brochure you will see that our workshop facilitator, Andrew Brickell, is a
very experienced construction contracts practitioner and presenter, who also
covers other topics in IPWEA’s training programme. Andrew was the IPENZ
and ACENZ representative on the Standards NZ 3910 revision committee, so he is
well placed to explain the reasons for the important changes introduced by the
2013 revisions.
Participants should bring with them a copy of NZS 3910 for their reference (available from Standards NZ, Private Bag 2439, Wellington 6020, phone 04 498 5990 , web site, www.standards.co.nz). If this presents difficulty, a limited number of loan copies may be available at the seminar.
Having completed this seminar, participants may later wish to attend the IPWEA NZ 'Engineer to the Contract' seminar which deals with advanced topics in more depth.
"This seminar is accepted by the NZTA as part of the accreditation process for those in the role of Engineers Representative on NZTA's Highway and Network Operations projects".
