The 2016 IPWEA NZ conference builds on past conference themes around responding to change. Regardless of challenges faced the focus for the industry is around leading the way in providing tomorrow’s infrastructure that meets the needs of current and future communities. NEW FORMAT. Do note we will commence with a Welcome reception on Wed 22nd June and will finish conference around 4.30pm on Sat 25th June. The gala dinner will be held on Friday evening.

A key theme of the Local Government Funding Review discussion paper (February 2015) is that “the local government sector needs to assure communities that it is open to innovation in service delivery so as to build confidence over time in the quality of the spending decisions that it makes”. Adapting to a changing infrastructure landscape is a key element and reflects recognition that existing best practice thinking does not always result in innovation or the best outcomes in a changing environment.

This years’ conference will be focusing on innovative thinking. Presenters will be challenged with discussing new ways to manage, maintain and develop infrastructure utilising examples from within their organization, overseas innovation and original ‘out of the box’ thought provoking theories and insights. The 2016 conference will canvas all this and more -providing participants with topics for lively discussion.

Hence our conference title Adapt Innovate Flourish.

Auckland is the ideal setting for this conference theme having its own challenges in delivering service levels that will cater for the communities existing and future needs. This has brought a focus on the outcomes it is seeking for the city and how these are to be achieved through new approaches.

We are well underway in confirming key speakers and a programme that will bring to life our themes and give delegates some great ideas, contacts and approaches for dealing with their own issues. As usual there will be the superb array of technical tours, social functions and networking opportunities as well as some exciting events for partners.

Finally, Auckland is just a great place to visit. It is the world’s most liveable city with many great experiences for delegates and their partners within easy reach of our venue, the iconic Sky City. The organising committee warmly welcomes you to partake in an invigorating and stimulating conference within a most liveable city. Put the date in your calendar now.
