CEO's column: Professional development is the key to continued relevance

For many organisations, plant and vehicles underpin operational outcomes. Whether it’s a 30-tonne excavator, a waste compactor or a one-tonne utility, the fleet enables people to do what they need to do.

The fleet also affects an organisation’s efficiency. As a significant part of the operational and capital budget, a well-managed fleet provides a great opportunity to find those increasingly elusive savings. But, perhaps most significantly, good fleet management is a business assurance activity. With rigorous health and safety laws and increasing heavy vehicle regulation, it is critical that senior management can be confident everything that needs to be done is being done.

With so much riding on the fleet, we need to provide every opportunity for those charged with its management to be engaged in the industry, well informed and up to date.

Against this backdrop, IPWEA is delivering the Australasian Fleet Conference this month in conjunction with the Brisbane Truck Show. The conference is designed around the pillars of best practice, cost reduction and technology and will provide a great professional development opportunity to help those involved in sourcing, managing and maintaining the fleet to meet today’s challenges.

If you haven’t already – register now. The conference runs 23 – 25 May with delegates receiving VIP access to the Brisbane Truck Show. See you there!
