PWEA Australasia CEO Robert Fuller said: “We have been working with and having very productive discussions regarding the Street Lighting and Smart Controls (SLSC) Programme with Assistant Minister Angus Taylor and Ministers Josh Frydenberg and Darren Chester and their respective departments for quite some time now.

“It is significant that Assistant Minister Taylor sees the SLSC programme and this conference as being a critical element in instigating transformational change. He will be engaging with world leaders in lighting and smart controls to discuss their experiences and how they were able to successfully achieve large scale deployments of LEDs and smart controls as well as establishing a commercialisation model.”

The Assistant Minister’s Cities and Digital Transformation portfolios stretch across the whole of government to improve city liveability and tackle long-standing issues of traffic congestion, housing affordability and the need to create jobs closer to where people live. He has a focus on regional cities and outer suburban cities.

With a passion for cutting edge technology and the benefits for citizens of the digital age, Assistant Minister Taylor has led the government’s Smart Cities and Suburbs Program – established to seed-fund the roll out of innovative smart technology across our cities.

As the Federal Member for Hume, he has gained a reputation among his constituents as a keen problem solver, focusing on growth opportunities for regional communities and improving telecommunications.

“The impacts that large-scale roll-outs of LED street lighting coupled with smart controls will bring to Australia is massive. It will become the DNA and the backbone of our transformation into truly digital cities, whilst creating energy and environmental savings and road trauma reductions,” Fuller said.

“This Brisbane conference will tackle the issue of what changes have to be made now to make this rollout happen faster for Australia.”

Assistant Minister Angus Taylor will address all delegates at the Civic Welcome Cocktail Reception, to be held Tuesday 14 March at 6pm
