The 3rd International Street Lighting + Smart Controls Conference is putting the latest in smart street lighting technology at delegates’ fingertips, with the announcement of Silver Spring Networks Inc as Platinum Sponsor.

Silver Spring Networks delivers the Internet of Important Things™, by reliably and securely connecting things that matter, which include smart street lights. Silver Spring Networks, which has connected more than 25.5 million IoT enabled devices delivered across five continents, established its Melbourne office in 2008.

Brandon Davito, Vice President of Smart Cities for Silver Spring Networks, says the conference, presented by the Institute of Public Works Engineering Australasia (IPWEA) March 14 – 17 in Brisbane, Australia, will be a ‘one-stop-shop’ for smart lighting solutions.

“Silver Spring Networks is excited to choose the 3rd International Street Lighting + Smart Controls Conference as the vehicle to showcase the opportunities for smart city solutions in Australia,” Mr Davito says. “We’ve been connecting IoT devices for more than a decade, and partner with cities around the world on smart city programs and initiatives. Smart street lighting presents an unprecedented opportunity to provide our communities with better, safer, more cost-effective solutions.

Traffic and pedestrian monitoring sensors, dimmable lights – these are all innovations that delegates will have the opportunity to experience and interact with.

Alex Beveridge, Head of Sales for Silver Spring Networks ANZ, says that “conference delegates will have the opportunity to learn more about our platforms and solutions and to understand how they can deliver greater service and efficiencies to their customers and constituents.”

“When local governments are putting together a business case for smart street lighting, it is the value that can be added through future smart city solutions that can present a compelling case for change,” he says.

Silver Spring Networks and IPWEA already have a history of ground-breaking collaboration. As part of their commitment to advancing the rollout of revolutionary LED and smart controlled street lighting, Silver Spring Networks is a member of IPWEA’s Street Lighting and Smart Controls (SLSC) Programme Council (www.slsc.org.au).

As part of that positon Silver Spring Networks advised and gave feedback on the whole-of-industry SLSC Roadmap, a document designed to fast-track the wholesale rollout of LEDs and smart controls for street lighting.

IPWEA CEO Robert Fuller says the announcement of Silver Spring Networks as Platinum Sponsor demonstrates the calibre of the conference.

“This conference is your chance to provide better, safer, enhanced infrastructure for your community, limit the financial burden from street lighting and show your commitment to a smart and sustainable future,” he says.

“We are thrilled to have Silver Spring Networks on board as our Platinum Sponsor.”

The 3rd International Street Lighting + Smart Controls Conference will be held March 14 – 17 at the Brisbane Convention and Exhibition Centre.

The conference is presented by IPWEA, in collaboration with New Zealand’s Strategic Lighting Partners, and supported by the Smart Cities Council, Australia and New Zealand.

Silver Spring Networks’ Mr Davito will present ‘How Intelligent and Adaptive Lighting Is Driving Modern Lighting Programmes’ on March 15 from 3:40 – 4:25pm. Attendees can also visit Silver Spring Networks’ booth.
