The US, Germany, France, Thailand, Norway, Denmark, New Zealand and the UK are just some of the countries our keynote speakers and delegates are coming from for the 3rd International Street Lighting + Smart Controls Conference in Brisbane, 14 – 17 March – just five weeks away!

Where else are you going to get access to top-flight international speakers who will share their experiences on street light conversions from old legacy lights to new LEDs and smart controls? How did they manage the transition from energy company ownership to local government ownership?  Did you know that some cities have commercialised their street lighting and are earning positive cashflow from them? And, the ability to manage and monitor not just the street lights themselves but to improve data collection and enhanced liveability through a selection of a vast array of IoT applications will a featured session at the conference.

IPWEA is getting almost weekly enquiries from councils seeking help with their street lighting issues. One council realised they were “well out of their depth” and had a street lighting contract, not quite fully understanding what they were contracting for. They asked us for assistance, which we provided, and now they are able to talk the same talk as their successful lighting contractor. This leads to a better-managed contract and a more focused delivery.

ROCs and LGAs have a major role to play in disseminating high-quality information to their constituent councils. I was disappointed to be in a discussion over the weekend with a consultancy that advises many NSW Councils through their ROC. They said that their ROC knew nothing about the SLSC programme – yet they were about to start “doing some investigations” into street lighting so that they could advise their member councils in what to do. I quickly informed them that all they have to do is to check out the industry portal www.slsc.org.au and everything that needed to know is already there. They informed me they’ll be attending the Brisbane conference now as well.

It takes time to get your request to attend the SLSC Conference approved. Don’t leave it any longer; we know that many council staff already have their requests being queued waiting for approval to attend. Don’t miss out!
